href=\"http:\/\/www.rctech.net\/articles\/sponsored\/dromida\/\" target=\"_blank\">conversation<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0earlier this month on RCTech&#8217;s homepage. \u00a0The topic surrounded itself around the idea that everyone started somewhere in r\/c, and in many cases when the person is quite young. \u00a0Moving from toy-grade to a hobby-grade r\/c vehicle can be a difficult choice, given the range of products and prices in the marketplace. \u00a0Finding one that is durable and has the ability to grow with the new driver&#8217;s skill&#8217;s, at an affordable price, is usually the objective.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Dromida set it&#8217;s sights on being a quality, durable, entry-level hobby-grade r\/c company, and I&#8217;ve learned they are definitely high on the list for this purpose. \u00a0However, they&#8217;ve also managed to position the brand\u00a0as a fun, inexpensive racing alternative. \u00a0Club-level racer&#8217;s have started gravitating to this brand and 1\/18th scale, creating new Dromida race series.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I find it\u00a0interesting that Dromida consider&#8217;s their vehicle&#8217;s\u00a0a beginner&#8217;s option, while appealing to the club-racer&#8217;s who in-turn have created a new series. \u00a0I look forward to exploring that more in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The are discussing during this product test, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dromida.com\/surface\/didc0055-db418bl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">DB4.18BL<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dromida.com\/surface\/didc0051-sc418bl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">SC4.18BL<\/a>,\u00a0two of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dromida.com\/surface\/didc0055-db418bl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Brushless Speed Series<\/a>\u00a0vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter much share the chassis and suspension. \u00a0It&#8217;s the body, lights and spare wheel and bumper&#8217;s on the DB4.18BL that separate it from its\u00a0the Short Course counterpart.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The lights on top of the DB are sufficiently integrated into the body and include 4 LED&#8217;s. \u00a0They are incredibly bright and pretty cool for indoor use. \u00a0They don&#8217;t provide much driving light outside, so as the DB gets further away from you orientation can be a bit tricky if it&#8217;s dark.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style>\n\t\t\t#gallery-1 {\n\t\t\t\tmargin: switches, along with dual-rates for both. \u00a0Steering and throttle trim are on the front next to the wheel. \u00a0The antenna is\u00a0a short, static, hard plastic shell. \u00a0And the steering wheel is modeled after a real vehicle wheel with foam.<\/p>\n<p>The D100 is light, if not a bit bulky, but comfortable to hold and balanced well. \u00a0The trigger is not adjustable, but is positioned beginner vehicle, it&#8217;s also capable of racing. \u00a0An independent steering servo with a robust servo saver is a feature that makes racing these a real option.<\/p>\n<p>The steering servo\u00a0does nice job holding strong when going straight and returns\u00a0to center nicely. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t feel as though I had to help it get back to neutral all that often, terrain depending. \u00a0It struggles a bit on grassy surfaces, but did quite well on the track.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><em><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Chassis and Drivetrain<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0chassis is a solid plastic, and all the components making up the drivetrain are plastic as well. \u00a0This is one way Dromida&#8217;s\u00a0stays at its price point and able to be a beginner&#8217;s option. \u00a0This doesn&#8217;t equate to cheap. \u00a0On the contrary, these vehicles are intentionally constructed well, and ready for all the upgrade options available.<\/p>\n<p>Included are fully adjustable oil filled, big-bore shocks that provide nice damping to hit the bigger jumps. \u00a0The differentials, pinion and spur gears are all plastic\u00a0and the power is sent to the wheels with a plastic drive-shaft as well. \u00a0A full set of ball-bearings\u00a0keep things moving smoothly and efficiently. \u00a0And the motor mount is adjustable to accept different pinion gears for different surfaces.<\/p>\n<p>All these things combined keep the price very competitive, without sacrificing much. \u00a0And for the long haul, aluminum E<\/big><\/big><\/big><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I keep saying this is a beginner&#8217;s vehicle, and I just so happen to have a young man in my life willing to drive them to his limits and probably theirs. \u00a0He&#8217;s 8, he&#8217;s my son, and while he&#8217;s pretty handy with a transmitter in his hand&#8217;s he also has a lot to learn at the track. \u00a0I figured it was appropriate to feature his driving in the video, so apart from racing together, he is your test driver for this review.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">He and I\u00a0spent several hours driving the Dromida&#8217;s both on and off the track. \u00a0At our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Battle-Front-Gaming-and-RC\/183115541532?fref=ts\" target=\"_blank\">local\u00a0track<\/a>, the Dromida&#8217;s were a conversation piece, sparking several questions; Once the driver&#8217;s\u00a0saw the potential behind the brushless setup, the idea of creating a series behind these vehicles was hatched. \u00a0Maybe that happens and maybe it doesn&#8217;t, but it&#8217;s the fact these vehicles have racing\u00a0potential for very little money that makes it an intriguing idea&#8211; I&#8217;d like to explore that more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The outside track\u00a0is where we started our testing. \u00a0Essentially\u00a0these vehicles are the same, yet there are enough differences to make them look different but also drive differently. \u00a0The DB feels lighter and more agile than the SC; cornering is precise on both vehicles thanks to the responsiveness of the steering servo, but they handle jumps differently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The brake drag is set to 0% on both vehicles, and I don&#8217;t imagine a situation where a driver would want to dial in more. \u00a0Coming into a jump at speed with the DB will force you to keep the throttle engaged as the nose tends to dive more than I would have expected given the rear tire placement. \u00a0I can&#8217;t think of one occasion where it was appropriate\u00a0to stab the brake through a jump as the DB\u00a0seems to always like throttle through the jumps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The SC on the other hand felt better balanced through the jumps, and more controllable. \u00a0When the timing is right, bringing the throttle back to neutral during high speed jumps kept the truck happy. \u00a0Neither vehicle get huge\u00a0air, so reaction time needs to be quick in getting a stab of the throttle or brake, but it&#8217;s more available on the SC than the DB.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I am fortunate that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Battle-Front-Gaming-and-RC\/183115541532?fref=ts\" target=\"_blank\">Battle Front RC<\/a>\u00a0has both an\u00a0outdoor and indoor race track along with an indoor dirt oval. \u00a0It makes for some really good overall testing for vehicles like these. \u00a0The dirt oval was available, so we spent a little time there first. \u00a0As you might expect, the tire&#8217;s aren&#8217;t exactly ideal\u00a0for a dirt oval, but it was still fun. \u00a0Easing into full throttle out of the corner&#8217;s into the straight was attainable, and no brakes were needed even with 0% brake drag. \u00a0It doesn&#8217;t appear one vehicle has an advantage over the other here.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Next, the indoor track. \u00a0We took turns driving both the SC and DB through a few battery\u00a0packs,\u00a0and everything we learned outside was consistently true inside as well&#8211; the SC is our\u00a0preferred weapon around a track between these two vehicles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Bashing these are equally as fun as bringing them to the track. \u00a0Obviously grass is your enemy, but you&#8217;ll see in the video it&#8217;s not completely out of the question. \u00a0The 4wd does fantastic in sand left;\">There&#8217;s a lot more to like about the Dromida Brushless Speed Series vehicles than there is to not like. \u00a0Coming in at $149.99, these are a bargain. \u00a0I believe they are race-able out of the box, but Dromida also has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dromida.com\/surface\/hopups\/index-bl.html\" target=\"_blank\">full list of upgrades<\/a> including: aluminum shocks and towers, drive shaft, dogbones, axles, pinions and spur gear. \u00a0For a little extra money you can really dial in a Dromida\u00a0and wring out all the performance possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1417 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rctech.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_0971-e1436292300975-225x300.jpg?resize=225%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/>I had a small issue with the DB, and it&#8217;s based on how the front bumper is connected to the differential housing. \u00a0The DB took several\u00a0hits to the bumper at the track, and it caused the connecting screws to come loose.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The problem is these screws also secure part of\u00a0the differential housing, as it&#8217;s all connected. \u00a0That opened the door to a lot of dirt and sand to enter and ended our day of racing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I took the whole thing apart, cleaned it and was was able to secure it back in place. \u00a0I&#8217;m hopeful it&#8217;s going to continue holding through more troubled\u00a0landings, but my confidence isn&#8217;t high. \u00a0Alternatively, the SC took equally as punishing hits and tumbles and we had no issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It&#8217;s\u00a0an unfortunate blemish on otherwise stellar experience while testing both these vehicles. \u00a0The Dromida Speed Series draws a lot of attention, they are impressively fast, agile and easy to drive. \u00a0They are novice-friendly and highly upgradable. \u00a0And they\u00a0are absolutely a racing
